Obituary

On Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., surrounded by family, Rita Mae Taylor, at the age of 78, was granted her heavenly wings and entered into eternal peace.  God knew she was tired and freed her from all pain.

She was born January 5, 1938, and was the sole surviving sibling of the late Arthur Victorian, Sr., and Evelina Bushnell Victorian.

Rita was married to the late Simon Taylor and had two children.  She left Lake Charles, LA in the sixties relocating to San Francisco, CA.  She was employed by the San Francisco Diagnostic School System and retired in 1990.  She was a member of Church of the Visitation in San Francisco, CA and served in the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary.

In February 2000, she moved to Las Vegas, NV, where she remained before returning to Lake Charles, LA on July 1, 2016.  She was so happy to be home.

She had a passion for fashion and youthful zest for life.  Her smile was contagious.  She loved music, good food and spending time with family and friends.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her joys.

Those left to cherish her memories are one daughter, Karen F. Taylor of Las Vegas, NV; one son, Kenneth Taylor of Imperial, CA; one, just-like-a- son, nephew, Armna (Mano) LaSalle of Lake Charles, LA; one, just-like-a-daughter, niece, James Etta Bell of San Francisco, CA; seven grandchildren, KeShaun King of Lake Charles, LA, Shauntee King, Michael Harris, and Kadina Daniels of San Francisco, CA, Kenney Taylor, Kendrick Taylor, Keno Taylor of Gilroy, CA; seven great grandchildren; three caregivers, Jessica Dowden, Dale Mayo and Lena Edwards all of Lake Charles, LA, and a host of other nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Victorian, Sr., and Evelina B. Victorian; five sisters, Mary Glaude, Bernice Pete, Evelina Chavis, Margie Green, and Barbara LaSalle and one brother, Arthur Victorian, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home and funeral service at 2:00 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Monsignor Dubois, officiating.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
