Robert Lee Cotlong, Sr., was born to Cleo Payne and Albert Cotlong, Sr., in Lake Providence, LA, on April 14, 1936.  He was a longtime resident of Starks, LA, where he met and married Sillersteen Daniels in November, 1954.  At the time, Sillersteen already had two children, Sandra Banks of Beaumont, TX and Carol Hopkins Scott of Orange, TX.  During their short union, Robert Cotlong Jr., of San Diego, CA, Arlesa L. Cotlong Clark of Houston, TX and Kenneth Cotlong of Starks, LA,  was born.  He also fathered Vernon Cotlong of Dequincy, LA.  He later married Arlene Cotlong. He became father to her children, Ruthie Cobbs of Arkansas, Charles Thomas of the Philippines, Edward Thomas of Arkansas and Regina Guillory of Houston, TX.  He also leaves to mourn 25 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Robert retired from Sabine River and Northern Railroad after 31 years of loyal service. After retirement, he began working for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department and the Calcasieu Parish School District.  He was also a loyal member of Greater St Mary Baptist Church of Lake Charles, LA, for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Cotlong, Sr., and Cleo Payne; his wife Arlene Cotlong, one brother,  Albert Cotlong Jr. and step daughter, Ruthie Cobb.

He will be truly missed by his family and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at First Pentecostal Church, 225 Hwy. 109, Starks, LA.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Starks under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
