Ronald Lynn Charles , 62, went home Thursday, January 7, 2021, from Christus St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. He was born on October 3, 1958, in Lake Charles to Robert and Mable Charles. Ronald graduated from W.O. Boston High School, attended Northeast University in Monroe, LA and McNeese State University in Lake Charles.
Ronald was a faithful and dedicated lifelong member of Reeves Temple CME Church, 1400 Winterhalter St., where he served in numerous capacities since his childhood. His last major functions included serving on the Trustee Board, BBQing for fundraisers and working in the Music Ministry as the sound technician. He loved his church. It was his regular routine to drive by the church at all hours of the day or night, with family or alone, just to make sure the grounds were secure.
Ronald married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Lewis and to this union they had one daughter, Stephanie Rae who was nicknamed "her daddy's twin".
Ronald retired from UPS where he worked for 39 years for which he was awarded numerous accommodations for his dedicated and loyal service. Before his retirement, he was awarded the Circle of Honor Award for 35 years of safe driving.
Ronald's passions were his family, his dogs, children, music, cars and people.
Left to cherish many joyous memories are his loving wife of 40 years, Beverly, their daughter, Stephanie of Baton Rouge, LA, one uncle, Herbert (Lucy) Washington of N. Zulch, TX, one sister, Constance (Darryl) Reder of Eastvale, CA, one brother, Terry Charles of Corona, CA, a brother-in-law, Glenn Lewis, three sisters-in-laws, Angelia Goins, Felicia Lewis and Erica Lewis all of Lake Charles, nephews, Ricky Abraham, DeVon Abraham and Jared Reder all of CA, Joshua LaSalle, Jordan Lewis and Kalen Brown of Lake Charles, nieces, Ginger (Kenny) Johns of Detroit, MI, Brittany Guillory of Lake Charles, great nieces, Dominique Robinson of Detroit and Mariah Guillory of Lake Charles, great nephews, Landon Guillory of LC and Grayson Reder of CA, one great-great nephew, Elijah Robinson of Detroit, Godchildren, Brittany, Landon and Mariah Guillory and Reagan Victorian of Houston, TX, a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. Ronald never met a stranger and with everyone he left a lasting, loving memory.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, please forward your donations to Reeves Temple CME Church, 1400 Winterhalter Street, Lake Charles, LA.
