Ronald Gabriel Talbert was born on March 14, 1954, in Lake Charles, LA. He was the fifth of six children born to the union of the late Agnes George Talbert and the late Gabriel Talbert. He was baptized at an early age and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Christian Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor W.C. Clark. Ronald remained a devoted member for over 50 years ending under the leadership of Pastor Edward Alexander, Jr.
Ronald attended Second Ward Elementary School, Reynaud Junior High School and W. O. Boston High School. He obtained his G.E.D. in 1972. Ronald played basketball throughout his junior and high school years. After high school, Ronald worked as a Forklift Operator at Crowley Maritime Corp for over 20 years. He was then employed at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women, where he worked for over eleven years until his retirement in 2016.
Ronald was formerly married to Wanda L. Gallien and to this union, three daughters were born; Tasha Monique Talbert, Toni Yvette Talbert and Tamara Nicole Talbert.
Ronald was an affectionate father, an active grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Before his health declined, his hobbies included fishing, cooking, gardening, and was very adamant about his lawn. He also loved listening to music and watching sports.
On Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 1:50 a.m., after a brief illness, Ronald was called home to rest and departed this worldly life surrounded by family at his bedside.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel Talbert and Agnes George Talbert; three brothers, Wilson "Jr. Boy" Clayton, Jr., Alvin Ray Talbert and James Calvin "Jimmy" Talbert; three sisters, Dorothy Barnes, Joan Cuba, and Linda Lilly; one sister-in-law, Cassandra Talbert; two brothers-in-law, Robert Cuba and John Stevens, one son-in-law Lloyd Armant, four nephews Gary Doss, Kevin Talbert, John "Johnny" Cuba and James Moorer, and his late wife, Judy Talbert.
Ronald is survived by his three daughters, Tasha Monique Talbert (Rahsaan Dumas) of Houston, TX, Toni Yvette (Willie) Smith of Cypress, TX, and Tamara Nicole Talbert (Percy Walker) of Lake Charles, LA; two sisters, Orelia Stevens of Downey, CA and Faye (Tony) Toussand of Lake Charles, LA; two brothers, Donald Ray (Brenda) Talbert and Ernest (Debra) Talbert both from Lake Charles, LA; five grandsons; Devin J. Talbert of Houston, TX; Donovan O. Deville of Dallas, TX; Darian L. Armant of Lake Charles, LA; Shane M. Smith of Cypress, TX and Dillon C. Talbert; two granddaughters, Alicia D. Talbert of Lake Charles, LA and Sydney E. Smith of Cypress, TX; one great-grandson, Chad Richard, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA; one sister-in-law, Gloria Talbert of League City, TX along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing celebration for Ronald will be on Saturday, December 17, at Christian Baptist Church at 202 North Franklin Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana 70601. Visitation will be at 9am-10am, with the Memorial Service following at 10am.
