IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roosevelt Joseph
Washington
February 16, 1951 – March 4, 2016
Roosevelt Joseph "Licky" Washington , the youngest child of Roseville Washington and Thelma Louise Senegal Washington was born on February 16, 1951, in Duson Louisiana. After 65 earthly years, he departed this life on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
He was a faithful and loyal member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Roosevelt (Licky) received his elementary through high school education in the Calcasieu Parish School System. He was a 1969 graduate of W. O. Boston High School and earned a B.S in Education from Peru State College in Peru Nebraska.
He concluded his 40 year teaching/coaching career on May 25, 2012, all while serving as Coach and Elementary P.E. teacher at Combre Fondel Elementary. On July 26, 2012, he was honored by the LA High School Coaches Association for giving 40 continuous years to the field of Coaching. He was very proud of his years as a teacher/coach. He devoted his time and talent while molding the minds and instilling the concept of "Student Athlete " in his players.
Coach will forever be remembered as a WARRIOR in the truest sense. He was an advocate in the classroom for education, a fierce player and coach on the court and field, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather brother, uncle and godfather and true to his dearest friends. Yet he had a servant's heart who nurtured and cared for many. His strong and tenacious will combined with his comical nature will truly be missed.
We do not mourn his loss, yet we celebrate his life and will cherish the memories that will be forever etched in our hearts and minds.
His Legacy will continue through the lives of his devoted and dedicated wife, Judith Warren Washington; his daughter and son-n-law, Brandi Nicole and Al Garcia of Katy, Texas; his son, Jared Joseph Washington of Lake Charles LA; the grandsons whom he loved more that life, Darrion Joseph, Koreyn JaMarcus Washington and Luke Robert Garcia; his brother, Albert Washington; sisters, Dorothy Mae Joseph and Debra Evans; Goddaughters, Shalena Milton and Jordyn Thompson and the many nieces, nephews, relatives students and friends whose lives will forever be changed by the relationship shared with Coach "Licky" Roosevelt Washington.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
