Sis. Rosa Mae Phillips Johnson was born on March 20, 1942 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Rev. Charlie Phillips and Sis. Dora Mae Phillips. On January 27, 1957, she married Linton Johnson, Sr. and to this union two sons and two daughters were born, Linton Jr., Portia, Byron and Tonja. Rosa accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church by the late Rev. N.P. Jones. She later became a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church for 28 years. In 1977, under the leadership of the late Rev. Horace C. Allison, she became a member of Mount Calvary Baptist. She served faithfully for 37 years until her health failed. Her church involvements were Sunday School teacher, Adult mediator of the Voices of Calvary, Senior Mission Circle 1 and the Gospel Choir. Sis. Johnson was a CNA and was employed at Oak Park Nursing Home, Holly Hill Nursing Home and Grand Cove Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Bertha Chess and Bertie McGill; and two brothers, Early Lot and Sammie Lot. She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband for 57 years, Linton Johnson, Sr.; two daughters, Portia Yvette Johnson Guillory of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Tonja Latreece (Michael) Phillips of District Heights, Maryland; two sons, Linton (Monica) Johnson, Jr. and Byron Johnson, Sr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; four sisters, Catheren (Raymond) Etienne of Westlake, Louisiana, Rev. Maggie Young of Vernesville, Georgia, Frances Blue of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Dorothy Johnson of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Rev. Dr. Charles (Cheryl) Phillips of Washington, D.C and Sidney Lot of Heidelberg, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Linton Johnson III, Bryon Johnson, Jr., Latavia Johnson, Brittney Johnson, Kendyl Pickett and Akenya Phillips; two great grandchildren, Carter Johnson and Amari Johnson; four grand doggies, and a host of other relatives and friends.
