Obituary

Rose Mae Clark Charles was born October 25, 1934, to the late Willie Clark and Julia Celestine Clark. She lived most of her life in Mossville and later moved her resident to Lake Charles. She was born and raised in Iowa, Louisiana. She was married to the late Edward Charles for over 50 years and to this union they had four children.

She retired as director of the First Church of Christ Child Care Center. Before her retirement she worked at several other child care facilities around Lake Charles.

Rose loved children and animals. She loved her family even more. Her smile would always light up a room. She started studying the bible and grew to love God even greater. She loved music and loved to dance. Rose spent numerous hours talking to her family on the telephone; family was the most important thing in her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Charles; son, Wayne Charles; two sisters, Louise King and Ella Moore; brother, Joseph Clark and stepbrother, Horace Clark.

Cherishing Rose's memories are her one son, Joseph (Pasqualina) Charles; two daughters, Patricia (Hayward) Prudhomme and Kathy Jones all of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Sister, Marie Declouet; brothers, Wilfred Clark, and Elliot Clark all of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Johnny (Oneedar) Clark of Missouri City, Texas and Henry (Carmen) Clark of Palmdale, California. Sister-in-law,  Margaret Charles; brothers-in-law, James (Agnes) Charles and Fredrick Charles. Grandchildren, Jarvis Jones, Justin Jones, Raven (Timothy) Ceasar, Jovan Charles, Jonathan Charles and Hayward Prudhomme. Great grandchildren, Morgan Crosby, Natalie Jones, Jakyla Garrett and Gavin Ceasar; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., at King's Funeral Home and funeral service on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., with a 2nd visitation at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
