Shelia Marie Rankins Berard , 68, departed this life on Friday, April 21, 2023, at her residence in Lake Charles, LA. She was born July 17, 1954, in Lake Charles, LA to Frank Eugene and Nancy Lee Davis Rankins and raised by Edward Rankins after the passing of her mother and stepfather. She was later raised by Carrie Lee Edwards and David Edwards in combination with Irma Jean Chatman.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 47 years Michael Berard, Sr.; father, Frank Eugene of Chicago, IL; three sons, Michael Berard, Jr., Timothy Berard, Sr., and Bradley (Pamela) Berard; three daughters, Kendra (Shadmon) Trail, Brandy Berard Collins and Qwendolyn Brooks; two sisters, Roxanne Rankins and Deborah Gasaway; one brother, Mark Eugene; 29 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three Godchildren, Paula Peltier, Hope Ned and Michael Lemelle and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Rankins; stepfather, Edward Rankins; aunts Carrie and Irma; stepmother, Patsy, two brothers, Ronnie Rankins and Ervin Rankins and one adopted son, Brackus Guillory.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., and funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at New Rock of Faith Church. Burial will follow in Hi-Mount Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
