Sophia Marie Simpson , 89, departed this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at her residence in Lake Charles, LA.  She was born October 28, 1933, to Edward Joseph Declouet and Mary Grace Walker Declouet in Lake Charles, LA.  She worked at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as a nurses aide until her retirement. She loved the color blue, flowers, gardening, traveling, crocheting and especially visiting with family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Patricia (Henry) Skipper of Lake Charles, LA, Harold (Tina) Simpson of Commerce City, Colorado, Catheryn (Felix) Davenport of Tempe, AZ, Carolyn Jackson of Lake Charles, LA, Pamela (Burnis) Porter of Houston, TX, Bradford (Kari) Simpson of Abilene, TX and Mary Simpson of Staten Island, NY; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Declouet; her husband, John Simpson, Jr.; one son, Darrell John Simpson; and two brothers, Joseph Edward Declouet and Jerome Declouet.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., and a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., at King's Funeral Home.
