Thomas Roy West, Jr ., "Big Head" 56 was born on November 23, 1961, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He is the son of Barbara Smith-West and the late Thomas Roy West, Sr.
Early in his life he enjoyed playing many sports and was one of Jennings High School football Stars. Tommy joined the United States Army after high school to protect and serve his country. Later in life, Tommy married Lakeesha West and together they had a blended family. Tommy was the definition of a true man. He loved his family and all of his children! His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He would light up every time he spent time with them. He was a hard worker and was known for being the best at whatever he puts his mind to. He worked for FedEx as a truck driver until his health required him to become disabled. He enjoyed dancing and being social. He is best known for never meeting a stranger as he would make new friends everywhere he went. He was a great husband and father who always instilled in his kids to do their very best. He was very outspoken and had a very big heart. He loved his wife dearly and together they enjoyed spending time with family and each other. He loved his children and grandchildren so very much that he talked about them all the time.
He is survived by his lovely wife, Lakeesha West; his children, Briana Smith of Houston, TX, Jazznea' (Rodney) Baty of Houston, TX, Courtney Caeser, Malcom (Nikita) Patterson of Pensacola, FL, and Shanequa Patterson; one sister Gail (Terrance, Sr.) January of Lake Charles,LA; 11 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Roy West, Sr., and his brother, Cedric West.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Union Baptist Church, 1014 S. Main Street, Jennings, LA. Burial will follow in Benevolent Cemetery in Jennings, LA, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
