Tina Bernice Pete Harmon , 78, was born on February 22, 1939 in Dequincy, La., to the late Bishop Oby Pete, Sr. and Sadie Mae Pete. Tina Harmon departed this life on March 10, 2017.

Tina Harmon attended Grambling State University and Lamar University. She earned her Master's Degree and 30 Plus at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. Tina Bernice Pete Harmon was united in holy matrimony to James Harmon on July 18, 1959. Tina accepted Christ at an early age. She was an active member at St. John Baptist Church. She was a choir director and Sunday school teacher. God blessed Tina with a beautiful voice. She loved singing and praising God. She also worked with the Youth Department. Tina also enjoyed cooking for the church. Tina was employed by the Allen Parish School Board for 25 years. She taught at Kinder Elementary and Reeves Elementary. After retiring, Tina became a Foster parent to over 100 children. Some of her foster children would come to visit her regularly.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 57 years, James Harmon of Kinder, La; two daughters, Lydia Harmon Fontenot (Johnny) of Basile, La., and LaSonya Harmon Fruge of Oberlin, La; three sons, Anthony Terelle Harmon (Michelle) of Kinder, La., Jamar Harmon (Brandy) of Oakdale, La., and Tarrall Humphrey(Jennifer) of Lake Charles, La; two sisters, Lucille Alexander of Houston, TX and Fannie Williams (James) of Fresno, CA; a special sister-in-law, Cynthia Woods; four grandchildren, Norman Thomas III., Amber Allen (Michael), Brianna Harmon and Jacoby Fontenot; two great-grandchildren, Amiya Johnson and Austin Allen; two godchildren, Rose Kaough Coleman and Darrin Harmon, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bishop Oby Pete, Sr. and Sadie Mae Pete; two sisters, Elizabeth Buchanan and Sadie Hawthorne and two brothers, Oby Pete, Jr. and Willie Leon Pete.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 8:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at St. John Baptist Church in Kinder, LA. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
