Our loving Vanessa Elizabeth Duhon-Landry, 52, was born August 5, 1964. She was the only girl and baby of six children born to Gustavia Bilbo-Richard and the late Alvin Duhon.

Vanessa received salvation and was baptized at Unity Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA. She resided in Lake Charles where she earned her high school diploma from W. O. Boston High School, married the late Donald Ray Landry, Sr., and gave birth to their first and only beautiful daughter all in 1981 and went on to be blessed with three handsome sons in the years to come.

She lived an amazing life where she raised her loving children with the help of her late husband. She was hard worker where she was the manager at Church's Chicken for over 20 years. Vanessa found another joy in life 15 years ago at St. Patrick's Hospital where she held the supervisors position over dietary.

She was the anchor of her family through her examples of how to live life. She taught her children the value of family, respect, love and most of all to always serve God. Her legacy as a loving mother will forever live on through her children and grandchildren. She was the life of any party she went to. She held her head high and never seemed to allow things to get her down. Vanessa would tell you the truth on how she feel regardless of the outcome. Her famous words were, "Don't Play With Me" will forever be in our hearts.

God called Vanessa home to rest at 9:00 a.m., December 28, 2016, at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, LA. She was a woman of extreme intelligence, integrity and faith. Vanessa's words of encouragement to her family and friends were, "I only want what's best for yall".

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving mother, Gustavia Bilbo-Richard; three brothers, Wilfred Labbe, Jr., David Duhon, both of Lake Charles and Michael Duhon of Houston, TX; four children, her only daughter, Courtney Landry, and three sons, Wilson (Stephanie) Landry, Donald Ray (Janeika) Landry, Jr., and Justin Landry all of Lake Charles, 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Vanessa will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Landry, Sr., her father, Alvin Duhon, her stepfather, Samuel Paul Richard, two brothers, Llewellyn Duhon, Sr. and Jerome Stanley Duhon.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at King's Funeral Home, Rev. Dr. Cynthia Simpson, officiating. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
