Veare Mae Melanson , "Mickey" 77, departed this life on September 4, 2018, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, LA. She was born May 8, 1941, to the late Edgar and Orangale Brown Gatson in Moss Bluff, LA. She was a homemaker.

She leaves to mourn her children, Evelyn (Merlin) Lorden, Lee Lemons, Edward (Janet) Lemons, Ishakinna Ven Troy, Fred Melanson and John Lemons Nelson; her siblings, Diana (Albert) Walton of Vallejo, CA, Callie Davis of Eastover, NC, Joyce Williams of Charlotte, NC, Elsy (Ruldoph) Singh of Houston, TX, Corliss Gatson and Eddie Ray Gatson both of Dallas, TX; 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Orangale Gatson; one son, John Lemons; two daughters, Cassandra Lemons Galmore and Patricia Ven Troy; three grandchildren, David Galmore, Veare Victorian and Jonathon Lemons and one great grandchild, Arissa Victoria.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at King's Funeral Home, Apostle Uneeda Beverly, officiating. Burial will follow in Perkins Cemetery, Westlake, LA, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
