Mrs. Vera Meredith Johnson, 77, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 23, 1940. Her loving parents were Edward and Eulalume Johnson. God called her home on February 3, 2018. She was loved and known in the city of New Orleans as "Vitro". She always stayed prayerful and had great faith. She was a caregiver to her husband, Mr. Richard Johnson, for 53 years. At the age of 77, she remained strong and high-spirited to the end. Vera will truly be missed. Vera was a loving mother. She was the lady who any and everybody could come to for a home cooked meal.

She leaves to cherish her memories, seven children, Londa Brumfield, Richard Johnson, Jr., Earl Johnson, Dewitt Johnson, Eric (Gwenette) Johnson, and Corey Johnson all of Lake Charles LA, and Errol (Michelle) Johnson of New Orleans, LA; one sister, Pamela (Tyrone) Humphrey, one brother, Wadeleigh (Peggy) Johnson of New Orleans, LA; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and two best friends, Carolyn Green and Pricilla Brown.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Johnson, Sr. and Eulalume Johnson; her husband of 53 years, Mr. Richard Johnson, Sr., three brothers, Reginald, Ronald, Edward Jr. and Charles Johnson and two sisters, Michaleen Singletary and Janice Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home.
