Obituary

Vickie Lynn Lewis Kennerson was born on January 16, 1955 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the union of Clifton Lewis and Bernice Francis Lewis. She was called from labor to her reward on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at her home.

Vickie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Evergreen Baptist Church in Lake Charles where she was a lifelong and dedicated member. She was a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, a member of Women's Mission Circle # 4, a member of the Echoes of Praise Choir and the Gospel Choir where she served as President. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved the Lord and her faith never wavered despite health and other obstacles she encountered.

Vickie was a 1973 graduate of Lake Charles High School. She was also a business administration graduate of Sowela Tech and was proud to call herself a "Flying Tiger." She was employed for many years by Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation and served as a Notary Public for over 40 years. Vickie was an avid reader and loved watching Western movies and television shows. She was a member of the Capricorn Club, a social and service organization. Although she loved softball, she never played but she was the sponsor of the Vickie's Dolls softball team for several years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifton Lewis.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenny Kennerson; her mother, Bernice Lewis; one daughter, Trinity Nicole Foster, two sons, Elliott Dwayne Tyler and Derrick L. Tyler all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; four bonus daughters , Syreeta Kennerson, Shannon Kennerson, Sharma Kennerson, and Dominique Nelson; two bonus sons, Dillon Gray and Kenny Gray; two brothers, Lee Gilbert (Janella) Lewis and Clifton (Vanessa) Lewis, both of Lake Charles; three sisters, Vallarie (Wendell) Woods of Baton Rouge, Deirdre Simien and Bridgett (late James) Williams both of Lake Charles; four granddaughters, Ashanti "Tai-Tai" Tyler, Joy Tyler, Amaiyah "Me-me" Charles and Jalyn Tyler; five grandsons, Khalil Tyler, Damani Tyler, Michael O'Brien III, Robert Tyler and Devarion Foster; three great grandchildren Khali and Khalani Tyler and Christopher Tyler and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held for Vickie on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00am at Evergreen Baptist Church, 646 South Franklin Street, Lake Charles. Visitation with family and friends begins at 9:00am at the church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
