Virginia Phillip Riggs, "Lil Mama" 95, departed this life on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Grand Cove Nursing Home in Lake Charles, LA. She was born November 6, 1929, to Samuel Phillip and Alberta Prince Phillip in Tatum, OK. She worked as a private sitter and a caretaker until her retirement. She loved reading her bible daily, watching action movies, playing cards and dominoes and going to the game room.
In April, 2011, she was ordained at Gateway Community Church of Houston, TX. She received the Living Legend Lifetime of Achievement as a Christian Black Woman February, 2018. She was also a member and ushered at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church since 1980.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Charles Love (Wanda) of LaMarque, TX; stepchildren, Michelle Riggs, Renee Riggs and Lois Riggs; six grandchildren, Darrell Guidry, Mona Brown, Ethel Faye (Ronald) Goodly, Kelsey (Maurice) York, Herbert (Farrah) Love and Chantel (Nickie) Love; 14 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Alberta Prince; one son, Richard (Mary) Love; one grandson, Donald Ray Bennett and six brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home with a visitation at 10:00 a.m.
