Warren "Pops" Goodly, age 81, of Lake Charles died at a local hospital on Friday, September 27, 2013. Warren was born April 23, 1932 in Eunice, La to the late Ferroil Goodly and Azelina Ceaser. He was married to his devoted wife, Lucy Ann McIntyre on February 11, 1956. Together they raised five sons, Vernard, Nicholas, Lyndon, Ernest and Baxter. Preceding Warren in death is his father Ferroil Goodly, his mother Azelina Ceaser, his brothers, Paul, Ernest, John, Dennis, Joshua, A.V., Willie and Charlie; his sisters Cecilia Brignac, Rose Fontenot, Stella Shillow, Olivia Allison, Elsie Frank, Mary Pitre, Martha Goodly, Vincie Johnwell, Renise Goodly and Ethel Guillory. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; Lucy, his sisters, Gladys Ross of Mamou and Rena Semien of Lake Charles, their five sons; his daughters-in-law, Iris, Stephanie, and Naomi; grandsons, Daniel, Chris, Nicholas, Ashton and Jarrett; granddaughters, Mia and Jewel; great grandchildren, Destinee and Rosaria; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Warren "Pops" Goodly retired from the United States Army in 1973 as a Master Sergeant after honorably serving for over 21 years. His distinguished career included tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. His many decorations include the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. Warren was an active member of St. Henry's Catholic Church and a tireless community volunteer. He devoted endless hours selflessly ministering to the sick, shut-ins and homeless. He loved life and found great joy in laughing and spending time with friends and relatives-especially if the occasion called for dancing to zydeco. The family will receive visitors Friday, October 4th, 2013 from 4:00PM- 9:00PM at King's Funeral Home located at 1611 Hwy 14, Lake Charles, La. The visitation will include a rosary and Celebration of Life program at 6:30PM. Father Tim Goodley will officiate, a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am on Saturday, October 5th, 2013 at St. Henry Catholic Church located at 1021 8th Avenue Lake Charles, La. Following the funeral mass, burial services will be at Assumption Cemetery in Basile, La at 11:30AM under the direction of King's Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
