Whitney Celestine, Sr. was born August 20, 1925 in Plaisance, Louisiana to the late Mose and Virgina Jackson Celestine.
A native of Plaisance, he lived in Washington, Louisiana until 1967 then moved to Lake Charles where he resided for thirty years upon his death.
He was a retired employee from the City of Lake Charles for 10 years. He was also a member of the Local union 207.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Mae LaFleur Celestine of Lake Charles, La.; six sons, Jimmy Whitney Jr., Ronald, Darrel, Anthony, and Perry Celestine all of Lake Charles, La.; five daughters, Annie Jean Edwards Celestine, Catherine Celestine, and Angela Celestine Babineaux all of Lake Charles, La., Virginia Celestine Griffith of Dequincy, La., and Carolyn Celestine Gum of Portland, Oregon; one brother, Joseph Celestine of Opelousas, La.; two sisters, Venda Rose and Louise Robertson both of Opelousas, La., 26 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
