Wilken Lawrence Stevens was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on December 9, 1040. He was a native of Opelousas and lived in Lake Charles for 37 years. He was one of ten children born to the union of the late Freddie Stevens, Sr. and Alberta (Rideaux) Stevens.
On July 11, 1964 Wilken was united in Holy matrimony with his soul mate Betty Rose (Richard) Stevens. Their union lasted 43 years. This union was blessed with the birth of four daughters.
He was known as "Steve" to many of his friends. He retired from Basell Polyolefin after 30 years of service. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and cooking. He loved God, loved family, loved people, and enjoyed life.
He was a faithful and devoted member of The Star of Bethlehem Church. He served for over 20 years under the leadership of Rev. Andrew Douglas. Brother Stevens was an active member and served on the Usher Board. Brother Stevens served his church and others wherever help was needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Alberta Stevens, three sisters, Lydia Thomas, Ethel Thomas, Viney Lyles, and two brothers, Irvin Stevens and Fred Stevens.
He leaves behind those who will cherish his legacy and memory, his wife Betty Rose Stevens, four daughters, Angelia (Phillman) Bellow, MElissa Malvo, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Toinetta (Marshall) Price of Hutto, Texas, and Shawn (Damon) Jones of Pflugerville, Texas, one son, Morris (Fritzie) Harris of Compton, California; seven grandchildren, Tamara Stevens, Phillman (PJ) Bellow, Lance Bellow, Shaylon Strauss, Alexis Malvo, Shaylee Jones, and Davin Jones, Tazanique Harris, one great grandchild, Steven Perkin, two sisters, Norma (Frank) Antoine of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Wilma Minix of Compton, California, two brothers, Oliver (Beatrice) Stevens of Opelousas, Louisiana, and John (Janelle) Stevens of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
