William Elijah Humphrey , 66, also known as "Uncle Bill" or "Peoples", returned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. He was born October 1, 1956 to the late Lawrence E. Humphrey, Sr., and the late Mary Lee Rankins Humphrey in Lake Charles, LA. He accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in a large loving family with 11 sisters and brothers. He was a wonderful brother and uncle and a loyal friend. He was an educator at heart and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and wisdom with his nieces and nephews. He had a giving and generous heart and was glad to help anyone he could. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memories three sisters, Mildred Williams, Mary D. Jackson and Gloria D. Moore; three brothers, James Humphrey, Leroy Humphrey, and Steve Hunphrey; one aunt, Jean Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Humphrey; four sisters, Joyce Mae Rankins, Shirley Rankins, Jannie Lou Dumas and Metrie Humphrey and three brothers, Jewel Humphrey, Lawrence E. Humphrey, Jr., and Samuel Humphrey.
