Obituary

"THE COWBOY? BUM KING Willie "Bum" Samuel King Sr. was born in Washington, LA on March 13, 1930 to the union of Samuel Francis King and Julia Linton King. He was united in his first marriage of 20 years to the late Margaret Lavine King and to this union seven children were born, and a second marriage of 16 years to the late Emily DeVille King. Willie submitted himself to God at an early age. He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Church in Washington, LA. He moved to Lake Charles, LA and joined Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church until his death. Willie was called to heaven on September 8, 2015. Bum King would best be described as a legend from the past. He lived a cowboy life and his children and grandchildren has followed his path to the barnyard. Although he had many friends, they could get as much of his time as they wanted if they followed wherever the cows and horses were. It appears that most of his decisions and education were based on what he learned from watching western movies like Lonesome Dove, Cowboys and Conagher. His oldest son Eugene describes his father as a person "who did it his way" and his son Larry said that is just how "Pete" do it which is how Larry referred to him. His greatest expressions were that he never had to go to bed worrying about his children getting in trouble, his belt had fixed that a long time ago. We would imagine that he is probably united with his old horse Coco in the great blue yonder cutting chickens and telling his old mules Aida and Lieza pull that wagon or he's going to have to get that whip. There is a Quote that some's him up "One cannot and must not try to erase the past merely because it does not fit the present"---Golda Meir 1898-1978. While remaining a lifestyle of a rancher, he previously worked at Woodbrook Enterprise/Layne Louisiana Company and retired from Conoco. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Julia King; Margaret Lavine King and Emily DeVille King; two sons Todd Wayne King and Christopher Jerome King; two great-grandchildren; Miracle Arianna Hadnot and D'Zhon Shilow; one sister Lela Mae Valentine; and three brothers, Raymond King, Richard King and Dalton King.
