Wilson Simien, 89, was called to his Heavenly Home on July 27, 2016. He was born September 23, 1926, in Welsh, LA, to the late Previa and Dora Simien.
Wilson retired from Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco after 28 years of service. He served two years with the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge.
Following his retirement, He and Lenell relocated to Lake Charles, LA, and was gainfully employed by the Calcasieu Parish School System as a bus driver, retiring 12 years later. After his departure he became a greeter for Walmart. He loved staying busy.
Wilson served as an usher for the 8:30 Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary and was a member of the Holy Names Society, the Knights of Saint Peter Claver Chapter 141 and the Vernon W. Joseph Assembly 22-4th Degree Knights until his health failed.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lenell Simien; two daughters, Debra (Johnny) Miller of Shreveport, LA, and Vanessa (Gregory) Taylor of Dublin, CA; two brothers, Paul Simien of Lake Charles, LA and Walter Simien of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Zora Lewis of California; five grandchildren, one goddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Previa and Dora Simien; one son, Anthony P. DeVille; three brothers, John, Wilbert and Eugene Simien and one sister, Emily King.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at 9:30 a.m., at King's Funeral Home with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m., and funeral service at 12:00 noon at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
